WHAM! They’re here. That’s how I felt recently when the universe sent me a curveball in the form of encountering people who have caused me pain in the past. There I am going along being that divine, zen Empress-person and I look around and there.they. were. What do I do? Lol, well I did what any zen Empress does: I sent a frantic, incredulous, annoyed message to my life coach, in the eloquent tones of “Can you friggin BELIEVE?!!” Among other things, her response was that I should send them love and light. o_O Say whaaaaaat? She always gives me these things to do that seem titanic but then I unwittingly smile inside because although on one level I scream and rant, “no, never!” another aspect of me smiles confidently at the challenge, knowing that I (like all of us human blessings) am capable of all things, even the huge ones like forgiveness; and that after I have accomplished this seemingly titanic task, I will be better. It is all too easy and furthermore perceived as normal for us to reach for hate, vengeance, anger and animosity but in the words of Janelle Monae in her song ‘Many Moons’ “Tell me, are you bold enough to reach for love?”

Greeeeeetings, indeed!

The process of starting this blog is divine, I can feel that this is going to be something large. I think that I understand that my very first post is going to have to be about my name Taitu Tiye, where it comes from and what does it mean, because I done know that the questions will flow.

Taitu is an Ethiopian word for the sun, but I actually chose the name after Taitu, the Ethiopian Empress who helped her husband and country to fight off the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in the 1880s. It is not just that I admire the Empress though, I actually do quite like the ring of the word - Tie-Too - and how it feels.

The other one, Tiye, is an Egyptian (Kemetic) Queen who was said to be the most beautiful woman of her time (though I suppose they say that of most queens) and was also a powerful public figure. I pronounce it tee - yay but others prefer simply - tie. It’s all good with me, I have many names, titles and descriptions.

So here, we now have Taitu Tiye and that bit of housekeeping is done which allows me to say WELCOME TO MY SPACE FAMILY!
